5.Thinkin' About You
George Wilks is releasing his newest EP ‘Clarity’ on 13th October 2023 with the EP's single 'Movie Love' coming out a week earlier on the 6th October. Both will be distributed to all streaming services. Written, performed, produced and mixed by himself, track list includes musical interludes such as Haze, Euphoria and Epilogue, alongside the the poppier classics of title track Clarity, Movie Love and Thinkin' About You. Clarity is the most poppy of the trio, with slick production and a catchy guitar hook that will certainly get the listener moving and grooving. Movie Love is a funky but nostalgic track, with influences from artists such as Tom Misch and Sam Wills. It paints the picture of a classy romance only found in the sun drenched coast of California. This track is a fan favourite at gigs and many will be happy it is finally gracing the streaming platforms. Thinkin' About You is a track that many would mistake as a love song to a lost lover. The lyrics 'don't know what to do now you're stuck in my mind, now you're there all the time baby I'm still thinkin' about you' paint the picture of someone who can't get an ex out of their head, but in fact the subject of these lyrics are self doubt and insecurities that plague many of us.
The musical interludes showcase George's ability to write instrumental music as well as songs, and his work as a media composer for advertising, film and TV has certainly helped to ensure each track flows into each other. The string arrangement in 'Epilogue' is a personal favourite of his, referring back to the musical themes of the previous track 'Thinkin About You' to create a sense of connection. This body of work is the latest and finest example of the musicality that George possesses, showcasing his ability to write a track that evokes emotion and gets people moving or thinking.
